Currently, Simon Asquith is the I.T. Network Manager, AV Production Manager and Head of Student I.T. support for one of Australia’s leading training organisations. Simon helps educate adults, particularly those with a fear of technology, about computers, the internet and social media. He has also worked in High Schools, Primary Schools and in a number of community organisations to deliver programs to support young people to build self respect and confidence through the development of a greater understanding of themselves and others. He has a strong dedication to bringing people together, through online media as well as through the beauty of the everyday old fashioned conversation.
Simon very much enjoys his dual roles at the Girl to Woman Festival as part of the Audio Visual Production team, as well as presenting in partnership with his wife – Rebecca Asquith in facilitating various workshops for adults and children on social media, the media and technology. He is dedicated to supporting this Festival for its underlying quality, care and commitment to truly offering support and a way forward for our young women, which in turn ripples throughout the entire community.
The world is moving so fast in so many ways. The gap we see between what current parents grew up in and understand and what our young girls and boys are faced with today – seems very vast. The Girl to Woman Festival and Community Programs truly facilitate genuine interaction for both parents and children in such a beautiful, fun and purposeful way. They offer incredible support at both ends of the scale, which then supports the openness and honesty to bring adults and children together so that we are the ones that shape our future, and our children have the support they need to be true to themselves in the face of the pressures they are bombarded with in today’s “Hi Tech” environment.” ~ Simon Asquith
