On Sunday 21st January 2018 the G2W Team of Presenters offered a
full program of workshops and forums in support and celebration of the
​girls and young women in our community. 

THE g2W YEARS

FEATURE PRESENTATION
Join behavioural specialist Tanya Curtis, psychologist Caroline Raphael, media educator Rebecca Asquith, Youth Facilitator Sarah Davis and women’s health presenter Natalie Benhayon in an open forum to explore how to stay connected with our girls and young women as they develop their independence and navigate the many phases of change ahead.

#TheConfidentYou ​

FEATURE PRESENTATION FOR GIRLS & YOUNG WOMEN
An interactive workshop empowering girls to know the everyday superhero qualities they bring to the world and how to be confident being who they are. Hosted by Madeleine & Emilia Power of EM-Power Youth Services & Kristy Wood of Kids in Connection. (please note this workshop will be held alongside the G2W Feature Presentation, giving adults more opportunity to participate in this open forum).

ACTIVITIES IN THE 'TOWN SQUARE'

ALL DAY ACTIVITIES THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE MAIN HALL
This year will see more market stalls and a host of free activities for young people in the main hall.

  • The Aboriginal Art Workshops from Ronella

True Movement with Natalie Benhayon and Curtis Benhayon: an exercise class that young and old will have fun getting down to. Plus a special guest performance by Girl To Woman Ambassadors.

Facilitated by Rachael Kane and Carola Woods
Singer, Songwriter and Singing Teacher Rachael Kane along with local artist and Songwriter Carola Woods lead an expression workshop that mothers, daughters, brothers and fathers will enjoy.

MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS

AN INTERACTIVE PANEL DISCUSSION AND WORKSHOP
Facilitated by Natalie Benhayon, Rachael Evans, Jessica Gamble, Rebecca Asquith and Sarah Davis
A panel discussion that will (at times humorously) debunk common mother daughter dynamics as well as provide workshop exercises that will support mothers and daughters to deepen their appreciation of each other.

THE DAD's SESSION

A DISCUSSION AND WORKSHOP FOR DAD'S ABOUT RAISING DAUGHTERS
Facilitated by Michael Benhayon and Ray Karam
A forum for Father's to celebrate the many joys of raising girls while also exploring the many challenges and questions that might arise around supporting their girls as they become teenagers.

TRUE BODY CONFIDENCE

#TrueBodyConfidence at all ages
Join Beverly Carter (Mums and Dads might remember her as 'Blade' from the 90s TV Show Gladiators) and Rebecca Asquith as they discuss the behind the scenes reality of being a TV celebrity and explore what it takes to have True Body Confidence: hint it doesn't involve getting famous! This presentation will be followed by an optional short 'Your Body Class' – a body awareness session to support us to approach exercise in a whole new way.

Professional beauty therapists led by Kylie Jackson support girls to express their natural inner beauty - bookings open all day.

NURTURING FOR PARENTS & ADULTS
​OPEN FOR BOOKINGS ALL DAY
For Parents / Adults – Nurture yourself with a hand massage or lower back massage provided by professional complementary healing practitioners on the day. All sessions are 20 minutes duration at no charge.

NUT-BALL MAKING WORKSHOPS

MAKE A TASTY TREAT AND HAVE FUN IN THE PROCESS
A number of workshops making a delicious and nutritious nut-ball treat will be held throughout the day. Facilitated by Angela Stone. Bookings will be taken on the day for this popular (edible!) workshop.

INDIGENOUS STRING MAKING WORKSHOP

Learn the art of a traditional practice using natural materials

PARENTS CHILL OUT LOUNGE

CHILL OUT ZONE - ​OPEN ALL DAY
String making is a traditional practice to create string from natural plant materials such as raffia, bulrush, lomandra & palm.  Participants will be given an opportunity to learn how to create handmade feathered string raffia and jute.

Hosted by Merrilee Pettinato and Tamara Flanagan. The Parents Lounge provides a relaxed space for you to connect with other parents and enjoy the free cups of tea while your kids enjoy the many activities on offer in the hall.
