Shannon is currently studying midwifery and works as a doula, supporting women in all stages of the birthing process and preparing for the arrival of a new baby. The highlight for her is providing a safe and loving space to support both parents during this unique time. Her calm yet authoritative presence allows all present to surrender to the process and the magic it offers. This flows onto her photography work which became a specific focus on capturing the raw and real moments life offers. She takes professional photos of families and the pregnancy and birth process.
Shannon has been involved with The Girl to Woman Festival since the beginning and saw it as a very needed event for the whole community because it is about what we all live, reflect and express to each other, hence the 2017 theme – Whose Role Model Are You?
Shannon initiated the Photo Booth Project at the 2017 Girl to Woman Festival. She has the gorgeous ability to make people feel totally comfortable and at home in front of the camera. Shannon takes photos which capture the total essence, beauty, power and sass that resides within each person.
Raising young women to be who they are is important to us as a whole community and not just about the children we are raising at home. For me, it feels deeply important for us all to open up our concept of family to a true way of being in society where we don't hold back on what we value or keep ourselves limited to the circles we move in." ~ Shannon Everest
